Opening what turns out to be a slightly dark and menacing evening HOLY Braille kick us off with their menacing 1980’s electronic synth riffs and beautiful performance art. Heavily influenced by ‘oh la la’ GoldFrapp era, HOLY are powerful, dark, and create their sound on top of layers of cinematic sounds and samples.
Next up, Echolines bring us guitar passion rather than (HOLY Braille) precision with a usually forceful set. Favourites ‘Cloud city’, ‘New horizon’ as well as newly released ‘Imagination stranger’ set their stall out as an emotive, punky, outfit who aren’t afraid to experiment with their sound.
Headliners ‘Ghost Signal’ keep the guitars of Echolines and bring back the HOLY Braille goth for the final set of the evening. Opening up with ‘Hectoring’ and wowing the crowd with new signal ‘A bag for death’, ‘Signal are the poppier, more accessible, side of The Cure with a voyage for interesting melodies. Three great live bands all on great form.
