Kkett. 06.07.19. The Cluny.

Well you can’t say they didn’t give us enough warning us can you!? Interviewed last month in Narc, Kkett main spokesperson ‘G’ predicted that this show, their album launch, would be “a real celebration of the North East music scene’.  And whether G turns out to be a future Gypsy Lee or not he certainly predicted the future perfectly on his occasion.  Kicking off with Eigengrau and then Threadbear, the launch party of Kketterwaul was a party atmosphere right from the off as each band brought humour, interesting dress senses, and great songs to the highly communal event.  Main support Be Quiet. Shout Loud!, who could have headlined themselves, drove the audience to boiling point with their glam sounding, glitter sparkling, show; doing such a good job of warming up you can imagine them becoming the regions ‘go to’ warm up act.  All of the fine warm up means Kkett can’t go wrong, and they don’t, with their delicate eye shadow, Eyes Wide Shut styled face masks and warped sound.  Part Flaming Lips experimental electronica, and part death metal, Kkett’s sound is immensely interesting as it avoids obvious patterns and textures, providing a diverse sound for an intense, diverse, performance full of laughter, piss taking and enjoyment.  The next time G makes a similar prediction make sure you listen.
