Ah, the ones to watch; a nice title given to young acts hyped by the music press after only a handful of releases, and a reminder that where established acts had years to perfect their craft, today’s instantaneous culture means bands often only get minutes. Sold out, and filled with the young and optimistic, the expectations on Apre and Inhaler tonight must be huge as they navigate the challenges of developing in public and pushing themselves without making mistakes. Not that you’d see any nerves; both bands are fearless. ‘The next Coldplay’, Apre, step up first to demonstrate their exponential growth. Positive, natural, and full of wonderful pop (including standout ‘Five to five’) Apre will be huge; they know it and anyone watching the show knows it. The same could be said of Inhaler, who have the look, the tunes (‘Ice Cream Sundae’ standing out tonight), and the attitude to not only hear the hype; but to embrace it. There is a reason that the young are optimistic.
