The Hunna. Virgin Money Unity Arena. 14.9.20

Visually similar to the E-Street band, and sonically reminiscent of the Gaslight Anthem, there’s very little to dislike about six piece, every-man rock outfit Bare Roots if you’re a fan of purposeful rock.   Doubling up on both guitars and percussion, opener ‘By a thread ‘sets a high benchmark in a set full of driving rock with meaningful lyrics and a well-produced multi instrument sound.

Keeping the guitar licks going, though filtering them through fuzz pedals and loud amplifiers, shoegaze/ Math rock outfit Jaws maintain tonight’s high standards with well thought out, clever, guitar compositions.

Given their ability to play complex, technical, elements it’s a surprise to learn that tonight is their first show of the year- a fact you could also apply to headliners The Hunna who’s blend of punk/grunge is ferocious from start to finish and shows no sign of returning from hibernation.  Three great acts meant rock was tonight’s winner
